New Orleans After Hurricane Katrina

20309206709_0_bg.jpg New Orleans after Katrina. Elizabeth Chapman and I decided to go down to New Orleans and help clean up after Katrina hit. Both of us had plenty of vacation to spare since we were both retired at the time, so we decided to help. Some of the pictures are pretty intense… houses completely missing, water lines up to the second story, thousands of wrecked cars shoved under the highways, or under houses (somehow Jackson square was still in perfect condition though). The majority of the work we did was gutting, cleaning and general demo work. The houses were so destroyed that everything except some of the framework had to be destroyed. The brick houses held up a lot better so that’s where most of our work was done, but those were still questionable. The photo to the left used to be a neighborhood… it looks blank now because a lot of the houses literally washed away. A lot of New Orleans still looks like this today… Read more

Justin and Bich’s Wedding

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         Justin and Bich’s Wedding. It was in Chapel Hill, NC and I think i it may have actually rained, but it was all indoors anyhow, so if it did, nobody noticed. The Wedding was at that church that’s on the same block as University Mall (I can’t remember the name), and the reception was at the Europa (in the room where Comedy Sports used to be). It was great, they had a movie theme (since they meet while working at a movie theater), and Justin and the guys even did a big serenade at the end. Very cool… Read more
