New Updates & Photos

Yes, my site is not up to date… I appologize for letting time get the best of me! As some of you may know, we’ve been a bit busy. The most recent post, appears to be from Christmas 2009, so yeah, I’m pretty far behind. Luckily, I have drafts of at least a couple dozen posts that will be going up in the near future… In the meantime, I have also been backfilling in old posts, so feel free to go back and check out the archives, you may spot something new!

A Fayetteville Christmas

family-photo This year, we spent Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day in Fayetteville with Amanda’s family. It was great fun, and the entire family was there (including the extended family… a puppy and a hedgehog). Christmas Eve was all about the games and secretly wrapping gifts while nobody is looking. We also watched the best Christmas movie ever… National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! Amanda’s family has a slightly altered version though, so a few scenes are missing, but it’s still great anyhow. On Christmas Day, we opened presents for about 2-3 hours… it was very crazy, they go big for Christmas for sure. I got her sisters toolboxes, mostly because they needed them, but also because I’m somewhat known for always having a toolbox around… so much so that whats in my trunk becomes a topic of conversation. There were a few other gifts, but the big one was some bling for Amanda… every girl loves diamond earrings right?

Snow in DC

img_3257 On our way back from NY, we stopped into DC to visit with Amanda’s sister, and for a day of sightseeing. I have not really spent too much time in DC, but Amanda has, so I was a bit more of a tourist than the rest of the group. Luckily, the snow made everybody seem a little like a tourist though. Though the blizzard had come through over two days ago, there were still a couple feet of snow left in some places. Since this was an unexpected trip, we only had about a day total, so we headed straight for the mall and all the big landmarks DC is known for. It was great to see DC on such a great day!

Christmas in New York

img_2459 Christmas in New York just seems like a natural idea doesn’t it? The best city in the world during the best time of year… you can’t really beat it! I went on all out on the planning too, so the trip was all in all, one of the very best vacations ever. Though it was only a four day trip, we really packed in a ton of New York! I’ve got the basic schedule below, but I had a more detailed one on me, and we really had everything worked out nicely. Some of the highlights were: Going to Wicked, Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, Ice Skating at Rockefeller, Brunch at Tavern on the Green, Dinner at Serendipity, and going to the Top of the Rock! We had plenty of time to just explore and do new things on the fly too, but we always had something we could be doing if we wanted. I tried not to schedule more than one or two things that we had to do each day, like a Broadway play, or breakfast with Santa… Yeah, we had breakfast with Santa at Rockefeller plaza too, right be fore we went ice skating! Like I said, it’s was a great trip!

Tom’s Surprise Graduation Party

Surprise!! Surprise!!! Tom graduated nursing school a few days ago and Kyla setup a big surprise party at Hi 5 on Glenwood. I gotta say that it was an amazing surprise, I mean, Tom had NO idea and was just completely shocked when he came around the corner! I think the setup was that he and Kyla were meeting his sister, but when he rounded the corner… BAM! There must have been 30 people there! It was awesome, and the look on his face was priceless. I tried to get a few shots of when he first came in, but the don’t justice to the feel of that surprise – way to go Kyla and Congratulations to Tom!

Christmas Packages For The Children In Ukraine

It’s beginning to look a lot like Ukraine! Ok, and Christmas! But for the moment, mostly Ukraine. We decided to do up a bunch of christmas packages for the kids in Ukraine. I really love giving presents probably more than I like getting them, and the kids in Ukraine are about the most deserving in the world, so of course we had to send a big Christmas package! We bought a TON of presents, fun toys and great clothes, and I decided that they all needed stockings too, so we got these little mini stockings and I stuffed them full of candy. It all looked so awesome, and I can’t wait for the kids to see all the stuff!

Christmas Card For The Children In Ukraine

Merry Christmas! This is the most work I have ever done for one photo. It’s our Christmas card for the children in Ukraine, and it was so worth it, but wow… this was this a difficult picture! Ok, so first off, word to the wise… don’t take pictures with animals. Especially three of them! Now, I know what you’re saying “but wait, there are only two animals in the picture. I thought you said three?” Yes, there were three animals for the first 40 shots, until I kicked Yoda out. He’s not a terrible cat, but if you try to hold him, well… he will try to kill you. The other two weren’t too bad, but all together I think it took 50 shots to get a few good ones. From there I still had to photoshop a couple together to end up with what you see here. I’d say this picture is made up of at least 3-4 other good shots. Next year we’re getting animal stunt doubles.

Thanksgiving in Southern Pines

The Families Thanksgiving! Woohoo! An excuse to eat, and eat, and eat, and… well, you get the picture. Yes, there is more to Thanksgiving than food, and this year we got to spend it with a lot of family, which is what it’s really all about. We got my family and Amanda’s family together in Southern Pines this year at her Aunt and Uncle’s house. It was a great time and of course, great food. There were dishes of food on all the counters and tables with even more still in the fridge!
